This exquisite book motif brooch, crafted by the late legendary artisan Nobuko Ishikawa, features an open book design with a rich 3-dimensional impression created by the thickness of the piece and the simulation of previous pages set in yellow gold adding depth and realism to the open book motif.  📖🦋🎇

The surface is adorned with a stunning fireworks design rendered through the ancient Japanese chokin technique of metal engraving, showcasing Ishikawa’s exceptional craftsmanship. 🎇 A scallop-shaped onyx gemstone forms the silhouette of black smoke, while a contrasting scallop-shaped pavé of diamonds depicts white clouds in the night sky where the fireworks soar. ☁︎☁️ Three tiny butterflies flutter joyfully, adding a delicate touch of life to the scene. 🦋🦋🦋

On the right side, the large kanji 暁 (Akatsuki), meaning dawn or daybreak, is beautifully set in  18k yellow gold. This kanji symbolizes new beginnings and hope, resonating deeply with the imagery of fireworks lighting up the night sky and butterflies representing transformation and renewal. 🌱🦋🎇

Nobuko Ishikawa’s choice of the kanji 暁 (Akatsuki), meaning dawn or daybreak, for this brooch symbolizes new beginnings and the hopeful transition from darkness to light, 🌅 perfectly complementing the fireworks motif that celebrates moments of beauty and renewal.🎇 The delicate butterflies represent transformation and the fleeting nature of life, 🦋 while the black onyx smoke and white diamond clouds together evoke the ephemeral spectacle of fireworks soaring into the dawn sky,☁︎☁️ creating a poetic narrative of fleeting beauty and awakening.

Nobuko Ishikawa’s jewelry-making style is distinguished by meticulous metal engraving using traditional Japanese techniques like chokin, combined with innovative designs that blend cultural symbolism with fine craftsmanship. His contributions significantly elevated the artistry and global recognition of Japan’s jewelry industry. ⚒️💍🌎

Weighing 29.6 grams, this versatile masterpiece can be worn as either a brooch or a pendant top, adapting seamlessly to the wearer’s mood and occasion—a true testament to the work of a legendary master craftsman.💫💎✨
